Relying heavily on the dark, eerie atmosphere built up during the intro to ‘Despair’, Ewol creates a compositionally brilliant base for Ak:Hash to remix in a violently destructive style. The first half of the piece is an angry exploration of crushing synths and crunchy percussion, before flipping and becoming a soulful, relaxing and nostalgic piece for much of the remainder. The only hints of the aggression that once was, are the occasional growls of the low synth that persists as the piece comes to its end. This remix is taken from the Core 3 EP, which puts the piece alongside artists such as Monty and Data 3. -Dan Peeke
